What cartoon or anime sites do you like? Please add them to this blog.
For example, this site is clearinghouse for the best, I think.

Get Started Authors!!

OK - so student 'authors' if you want to edit a post, click on "Customize" tab on the right. Then under the Posting tab, you can edit posts--this way Erik can correct my errors, and Jordan can put in more details about the claymation software--maybe attach a CHS PC animation to share with everyone. You can create your own posts too and add images. Here are some sketches you did earlier this year when we first started this club--check it out! Now all I need from you is email addresses from the other club members so we can all access and edit this blog. It is a private blog so please keep authors to club members only. Thank!

Claymation Smashdown meeting

Today Jordan brought in his webcam & laptop for claymation smashdown! Yah. We may have hooked a new member with this intriguing activity!

Cartoon History and Cultural Values

Last week, Erik lead the club and talked about comics. Basically, there are 3 types--short comic strip, magazine (USA phenomena) and graphic novel (derived from Japan and France, ex. Fullmetal Alchemist). Other differences besides size--the way the art is done and the storyline/format. The USA tends to draw their characters defined, roughed out with as much detail as possible in the square, narrow figures. The USA men are overly muscular and the women are also with very womanly figures. France prefers more 'childish' figures that you'd see in children's art--or old propaganda comics. The Japanese and Korean--Manga! USA 'manga' evolved around superheros and the heros follow the law! Ex. Boondocks--an American comic drawn in manga style. The videos and video games ofthen have street fighting figures that appeals to Japanese teens and USA adults. In Japan--their heros are quite controversial, ex. Death Note = serial killer who murders evil people. Typical Japanese anime with controversial heros are Bleach, Black cat and Imyasha

Welcome

Welcome to the CHS Cartoonist United Club blog. Sometimes we can't make it to meetings so why not meet whenever we want or share an idea, site or sketch with each other..etc. Keep it PC--this is a private blog that can be viewed by an administrator or teacher in the district if they so desire.
